What is CSA LOOP

CSA LOOP (Community Supported Agriculture) is a new system that blends CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and LOOP (food cycle). It connects local farmers with consumers to foster sustainable agriculture and a circular food economy. Our mission is to support small-scale farming and help address critical challenges we face in Japan, such as low self-sufficiency rate, aging farmers, and eating healthy.

How CSA LOOP Works

By becoming a member, you actively participate in creating a more sustainable future for farming and food. 

1. Support Farmers with Your Shopping Choices

Pay upfront for your monthly supply of fresh, seasonal vegetables. Build direct connections with farmers and deepen your understanding of sustainable agriculture. Your commitment helps farmers manage risks from unpredictable weather or natural disasters.

2. Connect at Your Local Collection Site

Pick up your monthly share of delicious vegetables, from common favorites to rare finds, directly from the farmers. Enjoy face-to-face interactions and community activities like recipe sharing. Use your mobile phone to manage pickups or deliveries with ease.

3. Engage in Sustainable Farming and Composting

Embrace the joys of sustainable living by getting involved.. Participate in engaging, hands-on events where you can learn about seasonal produce, join farm activities, casual meetups or even host your own! Turn your kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich compost that nourishes the fields and supports future harvests. It is a wonderful opportunity to teach your children about food, sustainability, and the power of community action.  

How to Join CSA LOOP 

It’s a simple 5 Steps to join CSA LOOP! 

1. Sign Up Online : Visit https://csaloop.4nature.co.jp/ 
** The website is currently only in Japanese. Please use translation services or other means to translate.

2. Please select your nearest local collection site or the farmer you prefer.

3. Check the plan (contents and price) for the selected local collection site and farmer. 
**The annual cycle is from April-March. We do welcome joining mid-year.If so,  please note that once signed up, the price and start date will be consulted with the farmer first and communicated via email.

4. After reviewing the terms of use, register as a member or log in, and choose your desired collection site and farmer.

5. After your participation is confirmed, you will receive an email with instructions. Please follow the steps to complete the payment.

Start receiving monthly fresh produce, updates, and invitations to events via your customer portal and email. 

Steps After Joining

1. Reserve your monthly vegetable pickup

Every month before your pick up date, you will receive an email asking you to login to the customer portal to indicate whether you are picking up the vegetables face-to-face at local collection site or prefer to be delivered (cash on delivery). Please respond within the deadline written.   

2. Meet, mingle and receive your vegetable

Meet the farmer at the local collection site and enjoy conversations with community members.

3. Compost food scraps and provide it to your farmer 

Notify your farmer when you will be bringing it to the local collection site by clicking on “堆肥受け渡し” and requesting on the customer portal.

4. Immerse in the farming process and related activities 

Gain a new perspective by seeing how your compost is used and participating in farm support activities or farming experiences. 

5. Communicate online and offline

Engage with other members and farmers through the “chat” option on the customer portal.
